Dreyton Ige

Biography

I started taking pictures because I liked paying attention to moments most people pass by. Over time, that turned into an interest in the camera and how images can quietly shape the way a story feels. I enjoy both capturing real moments and creating them, and I’m drawn to cinematography because it lives somewhere between observation and intention.

I’ve worked across various departments, however I specialize in cinematography, and have directed my own work. I’m also a photographer, which has shaped how I think about light, framing, and timing. Moving between stills and motion has made me more patient with images and more deliberate in how I build them.

The stories I’m most interested in telling are grounded and down to earth. Even when the work is more experimental, my goal isn’t to take people somewhere else, but to help them see the world they already live in a little differently. I’m currently in my fourth year of Film at York University and continue to develop my craft.
