Carassauga is a multicultural festival that brings communities together through traditional art, music, cuisine, and performance. It invites visitors to explore global cultures in one place to learn about each other and form connections.

The festival’s vision is to organize a city-wide, family-friendly event suitable for all ages, promoting understanding, respect, and cooperation among Canadians of different heritage.

The theme of Carassuaga Festival of Cultures is to “travel the world in one weekend.” It includes aspects of multiculturalism and cultural diversity as its main purpose. The atmosphere is vibrant and festive, with over 22 cultural pavilions included in this event.

Each pavilion provides an inclusive experience by allowing visitors the chance to experience firsthand what life in another culture is like through live performances, traditional music and dance, cuisines and interactive experiences. This festival incorporates a wide range of colours, ranging from warm hues to cool hues, to represent cultures and attract visitors to join.

Staff will wear orange colour badges for the first day of the festival. Based on what station they are in, staff will either have a music badge realted to entertainment or a food badge. This will help the attendees identify the staff and which station they are part from when they need to locate something or ask questions.

Carassauga Festival

For my final visual identity, my visual concept was inspired by Carassaga’s theme of vibrant/festive. My inspiration for this poster was to capture the essence of music and entertainment. I wanted to focus on the vibrancy of the festival and how it feels when you enter (chaotic and loud).

To represent movement & traditional music, I chose to have a girl dancing as the main illustration to reflect how a person might feel upon entering the festival. To include all of the 22 pavilions, I decided to represent them as shapes in the dress, with each texture representing a different country/pavilion. My wordmark reflects themes of music by using symbols like the bass clef and the treble clef to further support my concept.
