Jenny (Hyemin) Kim

Biography

Jenny (Hyemin) Kim (she/her) is a mixed-media artist based in Tkaronto (Toronto, Canada). Born in Korea, raised in the Philippines, and now working in Canada, her practice explores diasporic identity, intersectionality, and critical race through material and cultural hybridity. Grounded in materiality as both process and concept, she works across printmaking, ceramics, textiles, photography, and 3D modeling to reflect on lived experiences within Eurocentric and colonial contexts.

Jenny holds a BFA in Studio Art and a BA in Psychology from McMaster University and is currently pursuing an MFA in Visual Art at York University. She is a recipient of the SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarship–Master’s (CGS M) and has worked as a Research Assistant and Associate with the Sari-Sari Xchange project, supporting accessibility and community engagement in emerging technologies.
