Masih Asadi

Biography

I am Masih Asadi, a cinematographer and occasional musician, who is currently studying cinema arts at York University.

The film I am currently making is the documentary named The Life of Being Persian. It is a film about what it means to be Iranian through the eyes of Iranians in both Canada and Iran. It covers topics of identity, family, politics, culture, and everyday life. This project was created by my uncle and me in order to give Iranians a way to share their stories through the documentary, not through the simple headlines the media creates for foreigners.

Through interviews with the film characters and sharing my personal experience, I am going to reveal all that makes an Iranian. With documentary filmmaking, I want to foster better understanding of other cultures and create a personal connection with the people whose stories I share.
