A productivity app for university students that breaks down big tasks and visualizes their progress.
Following research on procrastination among university students, results show that a lack of motivation was a key factor. This led to the creation of BoboPomo, a productivity app designed to break tasks into manageable chunks while helping users visualize their progress through the Pomodoro timer method. The app also incorporates art as a creative outlet for stress relief.
The name “BoboPomo” carries a playful and inclusive meaning: “Bobo” is the Filipino word for “idiot,” emphasizing that anyone can use the app, while “Pomo” refers to the Pomodoro method, one of the app’s core features.
During onboarding, users select a buddy from a selection of “Bobos” to help guide them through their journey. After each study session, users are encouraged to create artwork, which is then displayed on the app’s homepage and in a personal gallery, visually representing their progress.
The app’s branding is approachable and fun, featuring playful colors and design elements inspired by art and stationery themes. This was a group project that I later refined and enhanced, applying new skills gained through my growth as a designer.
