Maria Moazen

Biography

Hi, I’m Maria Moazen, and I’m currently in my third year as a Cinema and Media Arts major and a Psychology minor at York University. Being born and raised in Toronto, Canada, and a second-generation Iranian, I am inspired by my heritage and strive to include pieces of it in my work. I’m driven by my deep passion for studying and critiquing cinema as well as exploring film history. My works so far have tapped into different media, including editing, screenwriting, and film analyses. One of my projects included combining archival footage and creating a short film program. I am currently working on another collaborative short film program assignment. I also have a film account on youtube and Instagram which involves film reviews and video essays. As I learn more and attend different film festivals like TIFF, for example, I find myself consistently engaging with film discourse and hope to take my skills further to create and edit films and media in a more hands-on way in the future.
