Olivia Voo

Biography

My name is Olivia Voo, and I am an international student studying Cinema and Media Arts at York University. I spent two years studying film production in Hong Kong before continuing my studies in Toronto, where I have now completed three additional years of film studies and practical experiences. My passion for filmmaking began in primary school, when frequent visits to the cinema sparked my fascination with visual storytelling. I started teaching myself editing at the age of ten and have continued to refine my craft for over a decade, which has led to various freelance opportunities. I am currently working on my first documentary, Here, Still There, which talks about how an international student finds her second home here but still struggles to understand where “home” truly is. Beyond school and work, I enjoy watching Japanese animation, practicing photography, and volunteering to support local seniors by helping organize free meal services.
