Rain Ties is part of the Vows to Water installation. Images of Iran’s endangered water bodies were painted on sheer cotton fabric, cut into strips, and tied onto a rope, each strip representing a wish for rain. The work is inspired by the living Iranian folk practice of tying fabric strips to trees as vows and prayers for rain and healing.
