This project explores the concept of growing up. Moving from youth to adulthood can be an overwhelming and lonely journey that brings nostalgia, excitement, and confusion. This piece intends to capture how my younger brother and I have been moving through this journey together. How we help and complement each other with our personal and shared experiences.

Throughout the process, I challenged myself to use only manual settings with my equipment. Up to that point, my camera skills were very limited, but as I explored every setting, I found myself experimenting and producing visuals I never thought were possible to create.

My canvas was complemented with archival photos of me and my brother, and excerpts of a poem I wrote about this same theme. Additionally, I wanted the background to add depth to the canvas, so I photographed everyday textures that were enriched by shadows and sunlight. Ultimately, my two canvases are intended to mirror each other. This piece is a way of saying that I see him and that I'm grateful to him for seeing me.
